On the outskirts of Goroka in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands lies Anego, a historic coffee plantation shaped by family legacy and years of patient restoration.
Acquired decades ago by a local businessman, the estate developed deep ties to the surrounding community. After his passing, it lay dormant for a time before his son took over. Over the past few years, he has worked to restore the soil, nurture the shade canopy and bring the plantation’s mature coffee trees back into production.
Today, Anego produces small harvests of Typica and Bourbon at 1,200–1,300 metres above sea level. In the rugged Highlands, where difficult transport access and unpredictable markets pose ongoing challenges, the estate’s revival reflects the family’s perseverance and care.
Through New Guinea Highlands Coffee Exports’ PNG Limited Edition programme, these small lots reach the wider specialty coffee community, helping producers earn premium prices for their dedication.
Washed and sun-dried, this lot brings together notes of goji berry and sugarcane, with gentle, balanced acidity and a rounded body. A sweet, inviting cup from a plantation entering a new chapter.
